What tends to work on LinkedIn, and what gets ignored.
What works
- Short messages. Two or three sentences beat a paragraph almost every time.
- Plain language, written the way you'd actually speak.
- One clear ask per message, usually a question they can answer in a line.
- A reason you're reaching out to them specifically.
What gets ignored
- Long pitches in the first message.
- Buzzwords and phrases nobody says out loud.
- Multiple links, especially in the connection request.
- Asking for a 30-minute call before any conversation has happened.
Tip: Give a change at least two weeks before judging it. Reply data over a few days is mostly noise.
